step 3
kickoff meeting + scheduling
Don't skip this crucial step - it could result in uninspired ideas, lack of directions, and low impact. In this meeting, you will review the kickoff doc with participants from the dates + time of the workshop to the problem you are solving through the working session. Using the kickoff doc, to start building the context and answer any questions they might have for a smooth start.
homework
Don’t forget to give the participants homework, if you have the opportunity. For example, bring a competitor's experience that you feel is superior in some way. Tailor the homework to align with your workshop agenda.
And, set the expectation that you’ll be focused the entire time on the problem at hand. No need to bring computers or have other programs open while in the workshop. We need 100% of the participants' expertise and attention.
Once participants see the agenda, they will start to get the idea that this is going to be unforgettable.
Personally, I haven’t encountered anyone who will not participate after throwing around an invisible ball with their teammates.
